ThanksDo I have to wait before getting a new rabbit?
some people do say burn the cage, others say no , i have asked my friend who works with animals and she said bleach it out leave it a few days repeat, then it should be fine, you can also see the vet and he will inoculate your new bunny.Do I have to wait before getting a new rabbit?
bollocks.
mixy is passed on by fleas or mosquito's, just clean out the hutch and get a rabbit for your kid as soon as he is ready for one, make sure that you do not cause your next rabbit stress as this can lower his immune system and let mixy in to do its worst
i think it depends on how sick the other rabbit was. I have a rabbit and she is living in a cage that 2 other rabbits have lived and died in and she's totally fine. I also have another rabbit who is living in a cage that a rabbit with a cold was living in before i sold him and we just cleaned it really good before we put her in it and she is fine to.
Burn? Never heard of that. Maybe sanitize it a couple times.
Burn the cage? No.
You do have to disinfect the cage %26amp; everything else that your rabbit used, before allowing another rabbit into the home.
';To control the spread of the disease it is important to do two things:
* Disinfect the area where the affected rabbit was to kill the virus.
* Control rabbit fleas and mosquitoes that can spread the virus.
Care must be taken that the disinfectant used is not harmful to rabbits.
The use of the cat flea control product Advantage庐 can be useful in controlling rabbit fleas and mosquitoes on rabbits.';
Also, there's suppose to be a vaccine now that you can give to your rabbit. Doesn't protect them 100%, but it'll lessen the severity if the new rabbit happens to get it (which hopefully it won't).
The disease could still be there. I suppose you could disinfect it but it would be very hard to get rid of every last trace because it's not a completely smooth surface. Try asking the vet over the phone, they'll give you the best advice.
No, just bleach the cage out and let it dry in the sun. the sun is a natural bleach and so bleach and the sun mixed will take care of the disease.
I don't see why you'd have to burn the cage. If the rabbit died of a communicable disease then a good cleaning with a sanitizer should do the trick. You may want to wait until you've had a chance to clean really well before you get another rabbit. Otherwise, you can get another rabbit whenever you feel ready. If it is now, then by all means, do what feels right to you.
