My rabbit is 1 years old and she has been pooping in her litterbox when she's in the cage but when i let her out she poops all over the house.. why?Why is rabbit all of a sudden not pooping in litterbox?
It's more convenient. When she's in the cage, she poops in the litterbox to keep from walking on it or getting it in her food - yuck! But when you let her out of the cage, she's got more room to maneuver and it's nowhere near her food dish. Why run all the way back in the cage to go in the litterbox when she can use the floor?
Some of the best-trained rabbits will go back to their cage to do their business, but the point is that they were trained to do that. It takes patience and a good method to get to that point.
Now, I don't know as much about rabbits in this case (I'm a cat person), so I'm going to refer you to an outside source now. The website listed below has just about everything you need to know on the subject. Question/Answers 8.9, 8.10 and 8.11 seem to have the in-depth answers you need. Why is rabbit all of a sudden not pooping in litterbox?
She needs one, and one isn't around. Get a smaller litterbox and put it in a room where she spends a lot of time. She should get the idea. Also, put timothy hay in the litterbox, as it encourages them to go in there.
Hi there.
It sounds like your need to train your bunny. She's getting confused as to where she can pee and poop :)
Hope I helped you out - good luck with your bunny.
Because she differs between house and cage. She doesn't know where to poop in the house and hasn't been shown. You gotta train her in the house like you did in the cage.
